Assembly

A Champagne marked by its dense, complex dimension.

La Côte aux Enfants Champagne is a wine composed of 100% Grand Cru pinot noir, from the single La Côte aux Enfants plot. This champagne has been cellar aged with natural cork for twice as long as required by appellation. Dosage is moderate, 6 grams per litre.

Sensations

A highly contrasted wine year.

The 2014 vintage is the result of a very contrasting year: a rainy autumn and winter are followed by dry and sunny months, leading to an early bud break. Flowering occurs in an exceptionally sunny month, while a cold and wet summer is offset by a sunny September. Despite these strong constraints, this harvest offers grapes of high quality, particularly for the Grand Cru d’Aÿ.

To the eyes

A color with golden yellow reflections.

To the nose

An expressive nose full of notes of brioche and crème fraiche which evolve into delicate marzipan aromas. After some time in the glass, hints of acacia honey and pâte de fruits emerge;

On the palate

Remarkably textured, bringing a generous creaminess to the palate. Notes of toasted hazelnuts blend seamlessly into a chocolatey finish which is enhanced by dried fruits such as apricot and delicate notes of quince jelly. A lovely freshness, more bright acidity than saline, brings exceptional complexity.

Our perfect pairing

◦ Veal en croûte with a seaweed salt crust, reduction, Haricot Azuki chilli.
◦ Langoustine marinated in black olive oil, confit lemon and ras el-hanout, grilled golden brown in its own jus.
◦ Extra-mature Mimolette.
