Harmony and Delicacy
Bollinger’s unique vision of Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir, a fresh interpretation of the Bollinger Style
Assembly
An assembly with a unique flavour, showcasing the specific qualities of the Verzenay terroir
PN VZ16 is an assembly of 100% Pinot Noir predominantly from the Verzenay cru. It is blended with other villages on the Montage de Reims, such as Avenay and Tauxières. The base year is 2016, but older wines also feature from our reserve magnums, the oldest of which dates back to 2006.
Its ageing period in the cellar is twice as long as required by appellation. Its dosage is moderate, 6 grams per litre.
Sensations
The pure expression of a grape associated with a great Champagne terroir
The significant proportion of Verzenay in this edition's blend brings the characteristics of the pinot noirs grown in this terroir to the wine: depth, elegance, and tension. 2016 was a particularly good year for pinot noir on the Montage de Reims, especially in the Verzenay vineyards. The natural maturity of the grapes was higher than average in Champage, lending the wine generosity and delicacy.
To the eye
A colour with golden undertones.
To the nose
Opens with fruity notes of apple, rhubarb, quince and mirabelle plum. After a few moments, hazelnut aromas complement the aromatic palette.
On the palate
A wonderful creamy effervescence yields to a delectable and expressive quality. Exotic flavours, with brioche and hints of stewed fruit, precede a lively saline finish reminiscent of yuzu.
